Indigenous name ITZKATZU, meaning “resting place” , a favorite suburb and commercial area, 7 km west of downtown San Jose. With a population of 52 888 inhabitants and an area of 34.49 km2, Escazú is known among the locals as “ the town of witches “ due to the legends of traditional folk in colonial times.
Oxcarts can still be seen transporting agricultural farm products and tile roofed white adobe houses with blue painted porches in the center of the Escazú Town, recall the days of this agricultural village surrounded by the magnificent mountains of San Antonio de Escazú.
