Solid waste landfill site "Northern Samarka" started to work in 1974.
In December 2021 Rosprirodnadzor made decision to close the landfill.
Total square of the landfill is 33 hectares, its height equals to 80 meters.
According to the terms of the lease agreement concluded between the administration of the Vsevolozhsky district and CJSC "Experimental Plant of Mechanized Processing of Household Waste", which later became CJSC "Promotkhody", the tenant was obliged to proceed with the reclamation of the land plot in accordance with the project since 2007.
In February 2022 Rosprirodnadzor inspected the landfill and revealed continuation of waste accumulation activities. Unpleasant odour is sensed not only at the nearest settlements (the shortest distanse equals 270 meters), but in Saint-Petersburg too (distance 10 km).
