Mankind is not alone in using forest timber to build structures, as shown in this panorama.

Here we have an upstate-New York, beaver-built dam, photographed with a light snow covering in order to best illustrate the intricate interweaving of sticks used during construction.

Forests provide not only dam material, but also food, for beavers eat parts of trees in addition to building with them. Besides the actual dam, beavers also construct a lodge out of sticks, where they take shelter and store some food.

Nikon D90 with Nikkor 10.5mm lens on a Nodal Ninja panorama head, atop a monopod. Stitching with PTGui Pro and editing with Photoshop.
