Indoor sports floors such as this one consist of hard maple boards. Maple provides a non-splintering, resiliant, and resistant surface important to games such as basketball and volleyball.
The wood surface for a single court typically cost tens of thousands of dollars, even without the installation fees, according to online search results.
In addition to the wood used on the floors, many schools have wooden bleachers, often made of Douglas Fir.
All of this wood must be cared for properly in order to make it last and serve its intended purpose for as long as it can.
