From the crystal radio with its geranium crystal, to the vacuum tube, to the diode, to the transistor, to the integrated circuit, electronics have played a dominant role in giving us new sensory capabilities and empowerment. It has enchanted our abilities to experience our environment like no other species is capable of doing.

The mortality of these devices is measured by the next technology breakthrough and then it is cast aside as discarded consumerism. Some of it will survive in attics, as art installations and as museum memorabilia but most will be lost to recycling centers and landfills.
