A 27 acre outdoor historical park and museum located at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas illustrates the resilience of the people that began and developed the ranching culture in Texas and the western United States. Shown in the panorama are three of the outdoor attractions:
Early oil drilling rig, a Fort Worth Jumbo J “spudder” circa 1935 capable of drilling oil wells to a depth of 5,000 ft.
A barn built in1908 (originally at the iconic 6666 Ranch in Guthrie, Texas) and moved to the Heritage Center in 1981.
An authentic Santa Fe Railroad wood-framed depot building opened in 1918 and operated until 1971.
