IN MEMORY OF PAT SWOVELIN WHO DIED IN MAY 2012.Whenever the wind cooperates I use my kites to get unusual angles for my panoramas for WWP. When editing new contributions I really appreciated my email exchanges with Pat, who always encouraged me to produce the best I could for WWP. Pat showed a genuine interest in my submissions and encouraged me to continue to contribute - and fly my kite!
When circumstances meant I couldn't submit an aerial panorama, I braced myself for the email from Pat chastising my lack of effort and creativity!
Well Pat, this is my submission, the 15th and 16th Century home of the Kings of Scotland, and the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots, Linlithgow Palace. Unfortunately The Duke of Cumberland's army destroyed most of the palace by fire in January 1746, but you get the idea. Note the adjacent church, whose spire was replaced with an aluminium "crown" in 1964.

Equipment
4 GoPro HERO2 cameras, with a prototype camera cradle/rig, triggered by 4
gentWIRE camera
syncronisers. Suspended below a Dopero 100 kite, 3x2m (10x7ft) in size.This technique produces two hemispheres, and a different workflow in PTGui from the classic ground pano technique. This results in extra effort BUT impossible angles!
