I had planned a night shot of the iconic clocks outside the entrance of Flinders Street Station in Melbourne. I've shot panos there in the past.

Earlier that day I photographed a house for a Real Estate agent which prompted a quick change of plan. An old clock hung on the kitchen wall in this empty house and was ticking loudly. The property was a deceased estate which always provokes thoughts of the finite time we all have. Clocks also seem to represent not only the passage of time but also of the future.

I had photographed some beautiful antique clocks for Michael Colman in his shop, Colman Antique Clocks, some years ago. I still have a photo of one, a particularly impressive Chinese clock, on my wall. I decided to contact him and see if I could change my original plan, fortunately my request was received enthusiastically. I took four panoramas, two in the shop, one in the workshop and one in a storeroom which can all be seen here.

Time is ticking.......
