Kia Ora! Gidday!
We at New Lynn Sea Scouts are proud to be a part of WWP’s Community Event. We are a group dedicated to learning and promoting active and contributive citizenship.
As well as being a part of the world wide community of Scouting ( celebrating our centenary this year!) we are also a representation of our local and national communities.
We are a mix of the Maori, Pakeha (European settlers),Pacific, and New Migrant communities found here.
Our Sea Scout Group caters for ages 6 years and upwards, girls and boys, women and men. We in the Scout section range in age from 11 to 14 years.
We are a very active Group at all levels, with our own Den and a ready fleet of Cutters, Sunbursts and Kayaks. We have a busy Regatta programme around the North Island, as well as sending members overseas to Jamborees.
We receive heaps of support from our local community.
We fundraise with garage sales and a big raffle sponsored by Air Calan.
The New Lynn Lions Club, New Lynn and Titirangi Returned Services Associations, local business’, Portage Licensing Trust (alcohol in Waitakere City is sold by two Community Trusts with profits going to the likes of us!), the National Lotteries Board and other Local and National Government Organisations grant us monies to help make all of this possible.
We have lots of fun and competition but we also put our energy back into our community in many ways, as a group, and as individuals, through what we have learnt.
Yep! We’re proud to be active and contributing members of our local, national and global communities.
Thanks for spending time with us!
E Noho Ra! Cheers!
