Cooks Garage is a unique bar and grill in Lubbock, Texas, known for its vintage neon signs, classic cars, live music hosting events like concerts, car shows, rodeos, and large outdoor oil company signs.

The display of vintage large outdoor oil company signs deserves particular attention.  The collection includes many which are familiar and quite a few that are not, with variations of both.  Photographing the entire collection is a challenge due to its size but fortunately a spherical panorama offers a good solution.  At first glance a 360° panorama allows us a view of the collection in every direction giving the perception of the true size of the display. By elevating the point of view we can increase our perception of size by increasing the reach.  This can be done quite effectively with an extension pole with limitations set only by the length of the pole.  Drone photography has changed all that.  This 9 oz. marvel easily takes a 35 frame high resolution spherical panorama at infinite elevations.

From the WorldWidePanorama essay Perception: “Perception can be defined by its limits, but also its reach.  The ambition of panoramic photography is to increase the reach and eliminate the limits.”  This panorama effectively meets that ambition.

And from the restaurant menu, their Barb Wire appetizer and Chicken Fried Steak are outstanding!
