The water on the beach is NEVER cold (a most common perception among children).
Not even in March. And they will insist on it even when their lips turn purple.
Perception is what our brain cooks starting (but not ending) with what our senses feed it. So it is strictly private: you will never experience my toothache because you don't have direct access to my teeth, and for the same reason, you will never see through my eyes to compare whether the colours you see are the same as the colours I see.
But there is language too, the words we use are common to all of us. Add to this the fact that we tend to react in similar ways. Conclusion? We assume, without even thinking of it, that we share the same world, a world built by our individual brains, certainly, with some obvious shades and different interpretations (according to age, gender, personality, social status, interests, etc.), and we basically trust each other.
For some reason, this lack of complete unanimity does not satisfy certain pious people who, with the invaluable collaboration of big bucks, the media and endless repetition (truth is embedded by iteration nowadays) will try to control the perceptions of the rebel sheep. As Groucho said: "Who are you going to believe, me or your own eyes?"...

But let's come back to the beach: should I ever try to persuade that child that the water IS cold...? Should I even try?
P.S.
"Water is cold"+"Getting up late on the weekends" = Childhood's end.
