The peoples of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation have lived on this territory for millennia.
Their culture and presence have nurtured and continue to nurture this land and the city.
Since 'Truth and Reconciliation' many names have ben changed to reflect the historical and cultural contributions and to include the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation into the fabric of the City of Ottawa.
Kichi Zibi Mikan formerly the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway (aka the Western Parkway to locals) renamed to the Kichi Zībī Mīkan, which translates to “Great River Road” a name more fitting the scenic drive along the Ottawa River.
Janus (January) and the Ritual of the New Year
