The Fighting Newfoundlander
This statue depicts a Newfoundland soldier standing "tall" and taking action to defend his country in a fight to maintain freedom from tyranny. It reminds us that freedom is not something that we can take for granted.
The monument was unveiled on September 13, 1922 in Bowring Park as a memorial to the Newfoundland soldiers who fought in World War I.
