Here you may view a typical distance scale from the 1960's that is engraved on the side of one of the cheapest lens that I ever owned. Even-though it is not laser carved, it's still much better designed than those of today!
BTW It's up to you to decide what is the exterior and the interior of the object that is presented in this panorama...
EF 24-105 mm @105 mm
NN Rotator mounted on top of a on a tripod was used as a turntable to shoot 144 images (i.e. 2.5° angular spacing)
EF 100-400 mm to shoot top and bottom of object.
