Mohicap Lake

Lake Mohicap is one of the seven lakes in San Pablo, Laguna, Philippines. It is located in Barangay Santa Catalina, San Pablo City. These lakes are maars or low-profile volcanic craters located in the San Pablo Volcanic Field. They are among the 200 small monogenetic volcanoes found along the Macolod Corridor, a rift zone between Mount Makiling and Mount Banahaw, which is part of the larger Southwestern Luzon Volcanic Field. These craters are formed by phreatomagmatic eruptions, an eruption where ground water comes in contact with hot magma pushing up near the Earth's surface. It is said that the seven lakes are interconnected by underground tunnels. Mohicap Lake is a 14.5-hectare lake. It is one of the main suppliers of water resources in the city. Its waters allow a generous source of tilapia for Metro Manila and suburbs.

The legend of Lake Muhikap tells of a couple who had a very sickly daughter named Munica. The couple kept praying to God for the good health of their only child and promised to do anything if He would answer their prayers. God granted their prayer on condition that Munica must not set foot on mother earth. The girl grew up to be very hardworking.
