Theme
Thinking about the theme, a path came to my mind that Munich people colloquially call
Drückebergergasserl, which could be translated as
Dodgers’ Alley. The history of this path leads back into the times of the Nazi regime:
The failed Putsch of November, 1923, was glorified by the Nazi regime as »March on the Feldherrnhalle«, and a guard of honour was stationed at the
Feldherrnhalle. Passersby were expected to make the Nazi salute in front of the guard. However, people avoided the Nazi salute by using the Viscardigasse just behind the Feldherrnhalle to sneak past the guard.
To honour this form of protest a row of bronze flagging was added in the ground of the Viscardigasse. This
path can be seen in the starting view of the panorama.
More information about Hitler’s attempted Putsch in November, 1923, can be found
here.
My
Performing Arts contribution was made inside the
Feldherrnhalle.
Making Of
The shooting was done with a monopod mounted on a tripod. An image of the setup can be found
here. The lens was mounted with a custom-made bracket which allows me to turn the lens around its no-parallax point. I took three exposures in every direction and then used exposure fusion to combine the different shots. However, in the end I've chosen the darkest exposure and just used some exposure fused parts for brighter parts.
