Veneto was one of the most rural regions of Italy, but after ww2, with new cultivation techniques that have drastically limited the number of employees, and generally because of the high costs and low profits for agriculture in Europe, a big part of the land is converted from agriculture into industrial areas: small industries, cottage-industry and handicrafts.
Veneto is going to be the richest region of Italy, but landscape, that rural landscape described by the painter Canaletto or designed by the architect Palladio, is going to be just a visual memory.
My hope is in a new generation of landscape designers...
