For this event I wanted to shoot an international border crossing. In theory this is not difficult, but in practice this is getting more and more difficult in the European Community, because since 1985 more and more borders are opened due to the Schengen Agreement. All turnpikes between Germany and Austria are gone nowadays and that's why I called my panorama The Missing Turnpike. The real border can't be seen anymore.

Trivia

The panorama was taken more or less on the border between Germany and Austria. The house you see is on the German side of the border while the traffic sign showing the truck is already on the Austrian side. I still remember when I was some twenty years younger, the customs officials standing at the road, checking passports and asking: "Haben Sie etwas zu verzollen?" (translates to "Do you have anything to declare?".)
