Rimutaka Forest Park: Orongorongo River
East of Wellington, Aotearoa/New Zealand

We're in the middle of the dry season here but once the rains start in May more water will flow. The river only ever reaches bank to bank after a couple of days of constant rain. That's when it becomes very dangerous. Not only is the water hard and fast, and the bottom uneven but the current is more than likely carrying boulders and tree trunks.
I'll show the water course in the next panorama, and by the way the Pampas Grass here is one of two Argentinian imports that have taken over the country from our native Toetoe, a more ancient and less-evolved, variety.
