Our Xeriscape (low water) garden was designed by Sally Allsup a notable Landscape Architect in February 2004. Her planting specification included a ‘Texas Sage’ (Leucophyllum frutescens).
The Texas Sage apparently does not have a bloom schedule. It blooms when it wants to bloom. The Sage is a good-looking, durable bush. It’s a native Texas plant. Over the last 10 years we have noticed that it will with some regularity they will go full bloom several days before it rains. This curious response to weather probably is mostly due to the plant's sensitivity and ability to detect humidity as well as change in barometric pressure. Rather like a living ‘Weather Station’.
