Our Xeriscape (low water) garden was designed by Sally Allsup a notable Landscape Architect in February 2004. Her planting specification included a ‘Texas Sage’ (Leucophyllum frutescens).
These Sages grow to 8 feet (2.5m) tall and 6 feet (2m) wide. Over the last 14 years, our Texas Sages have survived several short winter snow events and extreme direct full sun 100+°F (40+°C) high summer heat. The Texas Sages propagate by wind blown seeds. The purchase price for 1 flowering Sage is about $30 or €26.
It appears that our Sages like where they live. Last week we discovered 3 new pink flowering Sages growing in our garden. Thank you, Sage, for helping make our Xeriscape garden a better place to enjoy our evening walk.
