While we have all faced our own personal challenges during 2020, in the initial lock-down period my daughter found herself presented with a rather unexpected one, becoming the owner of her first house. The story of how this happened is too long to explain here but luckily it was only a couple of doors down from where we live so getting there and back wasn’t an issue.
The house fell into the "do'er up'er" category but during a lock-down all that could be done was what we could work on. As soon as rules allowed plans were put in place to re-wire the house, re-fit the kitchen and bathroom, new external doors and windows, new carpets and finally paint everything. We did all we could ourselves but there were certain things that required an expert’s touch.
Fast-forward to Christmas and her desire was to have everything just right by then and for it to truly feel like her house. Well after plenty of work and one or two strings of lights we got there. The table was set and used for Christmas day and when we look back on 2020, yes it was a year of disruption, change and the unexpected but as a family we achieved so much setting our daughter on a great path for her future.
