The trip to York should have taken place a lot earlier in the year, but it was 2020 after all - so it did not get cancelled but pushed about until - just before Christmas there was a window of no restrictions in Wales and the North of England. We jumped on the opportunity - which was just as well - after our first night in York a national lockdown was announced for Wales - which we could sadly only adhere to 3 days later after our return.
York was sort of busy but not in the way it normally would be - you had to book online to get into the minster and group sizes were quite small.
The chapter house is an octagonal room dating back to 1290. Sadly the light outside (half past three on a grey December day) didn't bring any shine to the stain glass windows but the chapter house, the minster and York are definitely worth a visit.
A happy ending to an otherwise subdued 2020.
