This is the Darsena, in Milan: it has been a central place for centuries: there were boats for people and for dutes. The last commercial boat did its last surf in 1979, then for years it was not used and also degraded, but during the last years a project recovered the whole area and last year, for Milan Expo 2015 it has been reopened from the major. It seems the project concerns also a recover of old water channels in Milan, but there are strong resistances. As usual there are people that agree with the project and people that don't. It would be interesting, useful and smart to get again channels in milan but I think it will be very hard to do.
