The Texas Live Oak is an "Evergreen" meaning it never drops its leaves. Stays green all year. Acorns drop in the Fall. The Fox Squirrels gather about half for the Winter. Well that is what they say but my experience taught me that it does exfoliate and re - populates it leaves all in 1 Spring week. The remaining Acorns stay on the ground. When walking on the grass they feel like round marbles.
