Mt. Douglas Park is one of Victoria's most spectacular natural treasures. Located about 8km northeast of downtown, Mt. Doug's 213m elevation provides a beautiful view of the city to the south and west, the Saanich Peninsula to the north, the southern Gulf Islands and San Juan Islands to the east, and in the distance the Cascade and Olympic mountains in Washington State. At night the glow of Vancouver's lights is clearly visible on the horizon (slightly east of north--look for the Big Dipper to orient yourself).
The panorama was shot at ISO 1600 and F4.5 with a Canon RebelXT and Tokina 10-17 fisheye zoom. The shots were exposure bracketed at -2/0/+2 stops. The 3 sets of exposures were stitched with hugin/smartblend, then blended in the gimp prior to denoising, color correction, and sharpening.
