This panorama was shot in Chimney Rock Park, North Carolina, from the top of a formation named The Pulpit.

An excellent view of the eponymous feature of the park is available from this location, as well as a panoramic view of Hickory Nut Gorge and Lake Lure (where the movie Dirty Dancing was filmed.) Chimney Rock Park has also served as a location for films such as The Last of the Mohicans, Fire Starter and A Breed Apart.

Behind the scene : how this panorama was made
This panorama was shot using a Fuji S2 Pro digital SLR camera, with a Nikkor 10.5mm fisheye lens. Three shots were bracketed at each angle, 2 stops above and below the normal exposure. Each image was processed for noise reduction using Noise Ninja and a panorama stitched from a template for each exposure using PTMac. The three resulting panoramas were combined using Photomatix to expand the dynamic range of the final image.
