I joined WWP in 2009 while looking for sites to share my new 360x180 panoramas. The idea of an event where hundreds of panorama photographers are taking photographs at the same time sounded like a lot of fun so I entered the March 2009 "Diversity" event.

I've been taking mostly hand held 1 or 2 row panoramas for a number of years, but in spring 2009 I decided to invest in a professional panoramic head for my tripod so that I could create the 360x180 degree VR panoramas that I had been inspired by for a long time. I took a 4 week vacation down to Chile and Argentina in January/March 2009 and had the intention of capturing a 360 degree panorama in each location that I visited on the trip. I'm slowly adding these new images to my pages on http://www.360cities.net/profile/neil-parris and there will be more over the coming weeks and months. The profile picture above shows me with my equipment in a place called Pucon in Chile.

For equipment I chose the Nodal Ninja 3 for its flexibility and low cost. To this I added my Canon 40D and 10-22mm lens at 10mm. Most VR panos are stitched from around 20 photos including 1 up (Zenith), a row of 8 pictures at +30 degrees, a row of 8 at -30 and a few down pictures (Nadir) with tripod and handheld.

I look forward to seeing everyone else's work from the recent event.
