This was taken at a local community college, overlooking the central courtyard that was undergoing a renovation. Colleges like this are where people go to contemplate what they will be doing with their lives and attempt to prepare for the future. A nearby spot downstairs at this same college was used for my entry for the "Crossroads" theme in 2010, which evoked a similar sentiment.

Another aspect of future thinking is in the fact that the courtyard renovation is not yet complete. As a work in progress, it represents another picture of the future.

The college is Linn Benton Community College.
