The Dinorwic slate quarry is my local adventure playground. Only about 10 miles away it offers endless hours of fun - exploring, mountain biking, scrambling, climbing and taking pictures. The quarry is basically the lower side of a mountain (Elidir Fawr) and it covers about 700 acres. The land is now owned by a Hydro electric company, but they tolerate the visitors.

You get a sense of the scale when you find me - from the tower with the rusty chain (opening view left) and the house in front one gallery down and towards the bottom centre - I'm standing on a big slab of slate.
