Except for the parking light on my car, every red light you see in this panorama marks a wind turbine in the Roscoe Wind Farm in West Texas. When completed in 2009, it was the largest onshore wind farm in the world, with over 780MW capacity. The site is leased from cotton farmers and is on 100,000 acres stretching into Mitchell, Nolan, and Scurry counties. There are over 627 turbines, which range in size from about 350 feet to 415 feet tall. Their combined output is capable of supplying power to over 265,000 homes.
