When in search of peace and tranquility, I find that it's most easily found in the quiet beauty of nature, particularly in the woods. While the Catskill Forest Preserve, and the Escarpment Trail in particular, is too popular and too close to New York City to provide the solitude one associates with a hike in the woods, its stunning beauty helps return one to a sense of balance and peace all the same.

This panorama was shot at North Point, which provides scenic, multi-state views over New York's Hudson River Valley, to the Berkshire Mountains in Massachusetts, and beyond. The lakes below are North and South Lake at the North-South Lake Campground, where we stayed on our trip.
