A barber shop is an important social location. Izamal has such a Barber Shop located on Calle 33 very near to our boutique Hotel Meson Rinconada del Convento. It is necessary for a barber to have their own chair. This chair has a small brass lable on it which indicated that it was manufactured over 100 years ago.

Let's go down a mathematical rabbit trail for a minute. Izamal has 20,000 residents. Each resident got 1 haircut each month or 12 each year. That is 20,000 x 12 or 240,000 haircuts each year. The Barber Shop's chair is 100 years old.

Given 240,000 hair cuts per year x 100 years = 24,000,000 hair cuts. That will necessarily keep a Barber fully employeed for at least 100+ years!
