Necessity

Necessity: the first things that came to my mind when I knew the theme for this WWP were the most obviously sociological and philosophical meanings of that term, but as my recent contributions had already been quite, say, apocalyptic, I thought I should do something closer. And as after a busy day some rest becomes a real necessity, I grabbed my camera and went to the beach for a bath and some relaxing ups and downs on the sea shore late in the afternoon.

I shot three handheld panoramas at different times before and after sunset, trying not to have too many people in them. Being a bit late, it was less difficult than I had expected, almost everyone was back into their presumably daily routines, just like the tides, and the stars, and the moon, and...

And so, without even notice it I found myself immersed in what I had just wanted to avoid: the ancient idea that everything in the universe, including ourselves, is impelled by unavoidable and blind forces that relentlessly guide our desires and our steps on paths preset beforehand from the depths of eternity...

Necesidad: lo primero que me vino a la cabeza al conocer el tema para este WWP fueron las acepciones más sociológicas y filosóficas del término, pero como mis últimas colaboraciones ya lo habían sido bastante, me decidí por algo más próximo. Pensé que después de un día un tanto ajetreado lo que verdaderamente necesitaba era descansar un poco, irme a la playa, tomar un baño, caminar por la orilla del mar. Y pasada la media tarde, eso es lo que hice.

Hice tres panoramas, en diferentes momentos, antes y después de ponerse el sol, intentando que no hubiera demasiada gente cerca. No resultó tan difícil porque ya era un poco tarde, pensé, cada cual retoma sus tareas, sus rutinas diarias, como las mareas, las estrellas, las ...

Y me encontré casi sin quererlo sumergido en lo que precisamente había querido evitar: esa antigua idea según la cual todo en el universo -los astros, las mareas y nosotros mismos- actúa impelido por fuerzas imperturbables, ciegas, que guían implacablemente nuestros deseos y nuestros pasos por senderos prefijados de antemano desde la eternidad.

¿O no?

Beharra: bururatu zitzaizkidan lehenengo gauzak WWP honen gaia ezagutzu nuenean, hitz honen esanahi soziologiko eta filosofikoak izan ziren; baina nire aurreko ekarpenak nahiko apokaliptikoak izan zirenez, pentsatu nuen zerbait hurbilagoa egin behar nuela. Horregatik, lana egin ondoren atsedena benetako beharra denez, kamera hartu eta hondartzara joan nintzen bainu bat hartu eta itsas bazterretan gora ta behera lasai paseatzera.

Hiru panorama atera nuen ahalik eta jende gutxien zegoenean. Pixka bat berandu zenez espero nuena baino errezagoa izan zen, ia mundu guztia bere eguneroko zeregitera itzulia zen, itsasmareak, edo izarrak, edo ilargia bezala ...

Horrela, ia konturatu gabe, aurkitu nuen neure burua erabat murgilduta hasieran saihetsi nahi nuen horretan: unibertsoan dagoen guztia -geure burua eta desioak barne- indar itsu eta ezinbesteko batzuek zuzentzen dutela baieztatzen duen antzinako nozio zahar horretan.
