Location: The Drum Tower of Xi'an, in the City Center, Shaanxi Province, China. Erected in 1380 during the early Ming Dynasty. Xi'an, China, is a city at the crossroads of Eastern and Western China where many Chinese ethnic groups come together because it was once the starting point of the Silk Road. As the original imperial capital, Xi'an was home to the first 13 dynasties that ruled China. Today, with a population of 8 million people, it is a city world-famous for it's archeological location of the Terracotta Army.

On September 22 a very bright full Harvest Moon was positioned just above planet Jupiter, the next brightest object in the sky, making for an unique cosmic arrangement.

Local astronomers set up their mobile telescopes around Xi'an's Drum Tower to show off this event. For the first time in almost two decades, the Northern Hemisphere's Autumn is beginning on the night of a full Moon. Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar system, will be the closest to the Earth in 47 years during this event.
