Performing Arts means many things to many people. What I shot was the studio of an amazing local artist Matthew Cherry who has clients worldwide. I shot while Matt was painting one of his projects which brings up the question, if an artist is painting alone is he really performing? In this case he was performing for me, so does the size of the group matter? If the artist is painting alone, is his “performance” really when he actually shows the art to others? I shot a show that Matt held about 6 months ago ( http://www.zoomhome.com/matt/360.html ) where hundreds of people showed up to see his work. Was that when the performance actually happened or was it when he created the work?
