Bodybuilding, fitness, strength. For many it’s a passion, and for that small percentage that are willing to dedicate the time, effort and dedication – not to mention the confidence – it's a willingness to compete in public, on stage. This takes hundreds of hours of preparation, from extreme workouts, aerobics, and dieting, to custom tanning, posing practice and posing training. Come showtime, each contestant performs a short routine, and also poses against all others in his/her group. At several points throughout the show/contest, the final three men in each special group compete in a pose-down, basically a free-form performance where the three men pose and show their stuff, vying for the judges and audience’s attention.

This pano was shot in the “posing room” at the gym I frequent (USA Gym, Bridgeview, IL) These two contestants, Kelly (short figure category) and Jeremy (Bodybuilding, middleweight) are training for shows in the near future. Both are still several weeks out from their respective shows and use the posing room to critique and track their progress.

Oh, that silver duct in the corner was a quickie addition to add extra air-conditioning to the room. With the lights, length of routine and closed door, it can hit over 90 degrees in there!
