I noticed a field of wild sunflowers and, because of their vibrant color, could not resist photographing them.

It is amazing to see such bright color growing in the salty sea sand that makes up the soil in this part of Flour Bluff. It seems that only scrub oak and mesquite trees are able to manage the 90 degree days of summer and the salt-laden almost constant 15 mph wind that blows here.

I use Nikon D70 bodies and lenses. For this immersive image, I used:
  • 10.5mm f/2.8 lens @f/8 , photographing in raw mode (NEF)
  • Gitzo G2220 tripod
  • Manfrotto 303 SPH panorama head
  • Photoshop CS2
  • PTGui (v5.71)
  • Pano2QTVR (v0.9.5.3)
  • Peter Nyfeler's Photoshop Nadir Action
