Leake Street tunnel, below Waterloo Station in London, was the venue for the Cans Festival, the world's largest exhibition of stencilled street art, featuring over 40 international artists and attracting 30,000 visitors.The festival, which ran from 3rd-5th May 2008, was organised by British artist Banksy, Pictures on Walls and Blank Expression with the permission of the British Rail Residuary Board and the Department for Transport.
Leake Street tunnel, formerly used by taxis, was vacated when Eurostar moved from its Waterloo terminal to St Pancras. Some pictures from the Cans Festival can be seen here.
Unfortunately, most of the original artworks from the festival are now covered by graffiti.
