Meadow saffron, also called autumn crocus (Colchium autumnale) or naked lady is a medical plant. The name "naked lady" comes from the fact that the flowers emerge from the ground long after the leaves have died back. All parts of the plant are poisonous. Romans and Greeks used it as poison, but now it is one of the most effective treatments for gout. Botanic Gardens Conservation International says Colchium autumnale is at risk from over-collection and deforestation.
I reduced the color to the shining purple of the plant.
