Friday, September 21 was International Day of Peace. Since it fell within the dates of the WWP, I decided to combine the two occasions, and organized a last minute installation of Pinwheels For Peace here in Oneonta. Pinwheels for Peace, now in its third year, was created by two art teachers to help their students “express their feelings about what’s going on in the world and in their lives.” I shared the idea of a local installation with some of the religious education teachers at our church, the Unitarian Universalist Society of Oneonta, since it was a perfect fit for UUs, and they provided the materials for the Religious Education kids to make their own pinwheels the previous Sunday. I added a dozen pinwheels I created myself using my photographs, and set up the installation on Friday afternoon in the UUSO Peace Garden.
Art, photography, panoramas, being a member at UUSO and the quest for peace are all a part of my sustenance.
