Upon entering Canada on Highway 61, a visitor from the USA will travel through about 50 miles of farmland on their way into Thunder Bay. I've always been fond of this particular farm due to the silos and traditional red barn. At any time of the day, or season of the year, this dairy farm always has that quintessential "farm-look", a pastoral setting, the essence of "sustenance". The "Candy" mountain range on the one side of the highway, the "Nor'westers" mountain range on the other. True Canadian Shield mountain ranges which, strictly speaking, are actually "Mesas" similar to those found in Arizona. There are birches and poplars in brilliant yellow and gold. Maples in blazing red. Evergreen trees everywhere else. Fields freshly harvested, the freshly cut barley - a fingerprint of God on the earth with rolling Slate River Valley hills all around.

I would like to thank the Bakker family for allowing me to photograph their dairy farm.
