Surfboards come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Many of these boards are very large, some over 13 feet, and moving them back and forth between home and the beach is not easy or convienent.

The City and County of Honolulu provides surfboard lockers on the beach at Waikiki. They have 592 lockers with a waiting list nearly as long. The annual cost is $10.00.

All of the surfing spots on Oahu have names. In this area they are called: Baby Queens, on the far left, Queens, behind the lifeguard tower, and Canoes on the right. The names generally have something to do with the land, the sea, or the use of the area. Queens is named after Queen Liliuokalani’s beach house which used to stand here. Canoes is named for the many canoes that come and go in this spot.
