Urban Energy
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Energy in various forms:
Infrastructural: One of Trigen Philadelphia's cogeneration power plants, producing steam and electricity for the surrounding hospitals and businesses. During the cooler months, steam can be seen shooting into the air from vents in the sidewalks around this area.Comestible: Across the street is one of Wawa Food Market's 500 convenience stores. They've been in the dairy business for over 100 years. I take out-of-town friends that crave a midnight snack there for the made-to-order hoagies.
Artistic: Over 2400 murals adorn walls throughout Philadelphia, more than any other city in the world. The Mural Arts Program expanded from an anti-graffiti program in 1984 to a city-wide arts education and community program. This mural is named "Individual - Independent" and is on the wall of the Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.
Educational: Thomas Jefferson University and the Jefferson Hospital own and occupy at least 7 of the buildings visible from here including the grey Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience across the street. Jefferson Medical College (part of the University) has more living graduates than any other medical school in the U.S..
Other visible buildings from here include Wills Eye Hospital, The Saint James apartment building, and a sliver of the Walnut Street Theater.
