Energy takes many forms in this world, though Johnny Mercer passed away in 1976 his energy lives on today in the form of his many songs still popular. Over the course of his career he wrote or cowrote over 1100 popular songs including "Autumn Leaves", "Lazybones" and "Santa Clause is coming to Town" to name a few. He also wrote songs for Warner Brothers and MGM motion pictures and was a cofounder of Columbia Records in the 1940's. His legacy lives on today through his music still touching the hearts of many.

As I was walking through the Bonaventure Cemetary in Savannah, Georgia I came across a group of about 8-10 ladies who came here to pay homage Johnny Mercer. They sought out his grave-site, which is deep into the old section of the cemetery, to spend a bit of time here to remember the joy his music still brings them today. As they were leaving they asked me to take a few pictures of their group so they would have a record for the future.

Johnny Mercer was born in 1909 in Savannah, GA and buried in his families plot in 1976. Cemeteries need not be places of sadness but of joy that the inhabitants brought to their visitors lives.
