In such a parched, life-draining area, it's not surprising to come across an enormous "monument" that symbolises two of Chile's favorite energy sources:
- Coca-Cola
Founded in 1886, Coca-Cola was first sold from a fountain at Jacobs Pharmacy in Atlanta as a energy booster designed to relieve mental and physical exhaustion. Although the beverage no longer boasts cocaine as an active ingrediant, the brand is still strongly associated with refreshment and energy-giving properties.
- Soccer
This national sport seems to harness the collective energy of an entire country. It is played on virtually every street corner, watched by men, women and children everywhere and talked about incessantly with passionate energy.
