Theme
The energy theme appears several times in the panorama you can see above:- Energy in form of potential energy is used to transform a steel panel into a frying pan.
- When the large hammer hits the ambos sound energy is produced. This makes an earsplitting noise.
- Water energy is used as an energy source to move the hammer and other equipment. One of the water wheels can be seen in an outside panorama of the mill.
- Heat energy in form of a coal fire is used to make the steel glowing at some production steps.
- Electric energy and sunlight is used to illuminate the mill.
Trivia
The mill is located in the Ostrachtal, a valley near Bad Hindelang. The mill was built around 1500, thus it's about 500 years old. During the whole time it was used by blacksmiths. Even today it's operated. In former times the main product was weapons, nowadays almost exclusively frying pans.Links
