The panorama shows the dehydration plant at Sekab in Ornskoldsvik, a town in northern Sweden.

Sekab - Svensk Etanolkemi AB - produces ethanol from biological raw material such as forestry waste.

The use of bio-ethanol is part of a natural closed cycle. It reduces emissions of carbon dioxide and hence the greenhouse effect. Most gasoline used in Sweden is blended with a few percent bio-ethanol and many modern cars can without modification use a higher percentage of ethanol.

A blend of 85% bio-ethanol and 15% gasoline, called e85 or Etamax B, is the main fuel for an increasing number of vehicles in Sweden. Ford, Volvo and Saab all sell cars which can be run on e85 as well as pure gasoline. Gas stations selling e85 are spread over the whole country.
