This building was constructed about 1950 (anonymous author) by the electric company CODESA to host an electric energy transformer. Several transformers of similar aspect were constructed between 1940 and 1950.
It follows a Neoarabic style present at the province from the beginning of the 20th century. Typical characteristics are the battlements and the Arabic style and embossed decoration at windows and doors. The rounded and eight star openings are the most interesting points of the construction. Moreover, the construction properties of this kind of electrical transformer, small in plan but tall, makes it resemble the look of a minarete. The building is enclosed in the Municipal Catalog of Protected Buildings.
Located at the entrance of the Municipal Park and surrounded by palm trees it has been defined as an item of great urban, social and architectural relevance which makes it a clear landmark of the city.
The building was rehabilitated around 1975 and nowadays allocates the main Tourist Info of the city
