The heat source for the building of The Centre for Dialogue and Prayer in Oswiecim consists of a system of five water-water type heat pumps. The ground source of heat is municipal water of minimal temperature of +5°C which is taken from the water lines transporting raw water from the "Zasole" water intake to the water purification plant. The minimal water flow is 110 m³/h whereas the average flow is 206 m³/h. The proper functioning of the system is ensured by water flow in the water lines at the minimum level of 92,2 m³/h.
The recovered heat is transferred to the so-called upper source of heat at the higher temperature level. Two heat pumps heat warm utility water by means of plate heat exchangers and warm water is stored in warm utility water containers.
The heating system of warm utility water co-operates with the system of solar collectors.
The water-pump central heating system is driven from distributors situated in the technical room. The thermal power consumption of central heating for 5000 m² of building surface and warm utility water equals to 300 kW and is realized by VATRA heat pumps.
The heating system was carried out in 2004 and put to use before the heating season of 2004/2005.
At present, the system works in a very efficient way and confirms the solutions adopted in the project.
